The paper is concerned with the computational dealing of the French diacritics for geographical databases and navigation systems. The object is to provide a formal linguistics analysis capable of explaining the ambiguities of the French diacritics (the acute, grave, and circumflex accents) in order to implement a computer solution to process the diacritics automatically (as a result of the linguistic analysis, the computer places the appropriate diacritics in a text).
Keywords: ambiguity, diacritic signs, mobility, geographic data, navigation system ….
