Course Description

This course highlights the economic and environmental significance of trees, objectives and methods of afforestation, afforestation ecology environmental factors and their influence on forest growth, development, and expansion. The course also looks at forest nurseries, afforestation methods, forest measurement, and ways of protecting forests from pests and diseases.

Course Objectives

1-To know the types and classes of forests.

2-To understand the theory and practice of controlling forest establishment, composition, structure and growth.

3-To introduce students to silvicultural practice.

Intended learning Outcomes and Competences

1-Have knowledge about managing and using forest for human benefits.

2.Classify forest by type, age, species, origin, and uses.

3.Understand the distribution of forests in Palestine and the world.

4. To identify and define environmental factors that regulate growth & development of forests.

5.Identify and name major forest trees.

6. Acquire skills and techniques of  forest establishment,  propagation & measurements.

7.Well management and maintenance of forest.

8-Successful dealing with silvicultural practices to improve growth and development.
