Course Description

Introduction to statistics, visualization of data , using graphs, tables, measures of central tendency, variability, dispersion, correlation, probabilities….

Course Objectives

The course aims to provide the student with skills and knowledge necessary to use statistics in business domain. Topics such as descriptive statistics, measures of central tendency and variability, probability, Discrete and continuous probability distribution will be emphasized

Intended learning Outcomes and Competences

At the end of this course students should be able to;

  1. Create and interpret graphs to describe categorical and Numerical  variables:
  2. Compute and interpret the central tendency and variation measurements
  3. Explain and use  basic probability concepts and definitions as well as included conditional probabilities and Bayes’ theorem
  4. Interpret the mean and standard deviation for a discrete random variable
  5. Describe and use binomial hypergeometric and poisson distributions
  6. Explain an application to portfolio investment
  7. Explain the difference between a discrete and a continuous random variable
  8. Translate normal distribution problems into standardized normal distribution problems
  9. Find probabilities using a normal distribution table
