Course Description

The course aims at helping students to identify the difference between testing, evaluation and measurement in english language teaching. it looks at the characteristic of evaluation, kinds, purposes, functions methods, roles,conditions and its methods of construction.

Course Objectives – Language Testing and Evaluation

The course aims to:

  1. Introduce students to the concepts and distinctions among testing, assessment, evaluation, and measurement in English language teaching.

  2. Develop students’ understanding of the characteristics, types, purposes, and functions of language assessment.

  3. Familiarize students with principles, methods, and procedures for constructing effective language tests and evaluation tools.

  4. Enable students to analyze the roles and conditions of assessment in improving English language teaching and learning.

  5. Develop students’ abilities to select and apply appropriate assessment methods in English language education contexts.
