Course Description

This course provides the students with detailed structure of the different human and animal systems as well as providing them with explanations of the physiological principles and processes that takes place in the body. The systems to be studied are the nervous system, the endocrine system, the muscular system, the digestive system, the circulatory system, and salt/water balance and renal function.

Course Objectives

This course aims to introduce the students to the essential background material & the different body systems in both animals & humans.  This would allow them to understand the functions of body systems, animal specializations life styles & behavior. Knowledge concerning such systems depends on the different mechanisms that operate in living organisms at the levels, ranging from molecules to the whole organism

Intended learning Outcomes and Competences

At the end of this course, the student is expected to

  • Be able to describe the different organs studied
  • Be able to know how such organs function
  • Be able to relate the different systems in the body
  • Be able to analyze, interconnect and explain different biological problems

Be able to compare the different systems of both animals and humans according to what is given during the course
