Course Description

A lecture course that involves modern industrial applications of inorganic chemistry. Contemporary advanced materials are studied, together with their industrial applications. 

Course Objectives

The course aims at introducing the student to industrial level understanding of inorganic materials and inorganic processes. New applications are targeted, by virtue of bonding and structure of different compounds. Introducing the student to state-of-the-art research & development in modern applications is targeted. Critical analysis of benefits (based on cost analysis, ease of fabrication, technical feasibility) together with impact on environment are highlighted

Intended learning Outcomes and Competences

At the end of this course students should be able to;

  1. Use fundamental principles in predicting possible applications of materials
  2. Critically use own theoretical background in proposing industrial processes
  3. Critically compare between different industrial processes
  4. Assess environmental impacts of a given industrial process

In depth description of applications of advanced materials in modern technologies.
