This research aims at identifying the main principles of the Shafie doctrine. It focuses mainly on ijtihad principles which help in the construction of an innovative, conciliatory jurisprudence system capable of answering the emerging issues of this era.

The research adopted the historical approach to study the biography of Imam al-Shafie and main scholars of the doctrine. Additionally, the inductive method was adopted to track the origins of the Shafie ijtihad principles to identify the most suitable for the present era. 

The research concluded that the Shafie doctrine has remarkable ijtihad principles making it suitable for contemporary ijtihad, and leading to a consensus among all doctrines.

The significance of this research lies in that it deals with contemporary ijtihad and aims at developing it to fulfill the needs and requirements of the current era. It aims at bridging the gap between different schools of fiqh based on the Shafie doctrine experience during the earlier ages.
