Abstract
Pandemics affect several countries and pose major impacts on health, social and economic sectors. Preparedness for the next pandemic is a must with strengthening health systems in lower resources settings, and lessons from the last pandemic should be taken in to consideration. In such a pandemic, it is indispensable to understand the knowledge and behavioral patterns of the
general population regarding COVID-19. In this cross-sectional study, we used an online survey to assess the knowledge, attitudes, practices and psychological response of Palestinian community. Data were gathered from responders above 15 years old, living in different districts in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, Palestine. With a total of 385 responders, results show high
level knowledge (71.97%) with favorable attitudes (38.2%) and good practices (58.48%) regarding the virus, transmission and prevention. The study findings will help in the development of targeted programs to improve the general population’s knowledge, attitudes and practices on COVID-1More efforts should be towards preparing the community for the next global pandemics, and encouraging positive, safe attitudes towards health threats.
