Arkoun built his view of the Holy Qur’an, and the arrangement of its surahs and verses, on three foundations: the differentiation between the oral text and the written text, the historically of the Qur’anic text, and the chaos of the arrangement of verses and surahs. Arkoun proceeded to say the order of the verses and the surahs based on the history of the revelation and based on the use of the analytical method of Quranic words, and he applied his method scientifically when studying some of the chapters of the Holy Quran.
