Background: The Palestinian Ministry of Health has implemented a unified health information system Avicenna in 2010Across government hospitals, but user acceptance remains unclear. While this improves healthcare quality, understanding factors affecting healthcare provider acceptance is crucial for optimizing the system's success and development. Healthcare providers are the primary users, and their acceptance directly impacts system effectiveness.
Purpose: This study aims to investigate the factors influencing the acceptance of Avicenna among healthcare providers in Palestinian healthcare institutions.
Methods: A quantitative cross-sectional design was employed. A self-administered questionnaire was distributed to 300 healthcare providers at the Palestine Medical Complex, achieving a 100% response rate. The questionnaire assessed perceived usefulness, ease of use, human factors, technological factors, organizational factors, and overall acceptance of HIS.
Results: The study found that a majority of participants perceived Avicenna as beneficial and easy to use. Compatibility, information security, self-efficacy, social influence, system quality, and information quality were significant factors influencing acceptance. Challenges included slow response times, data security concerns, and a lack of training.
Conclusion: Perceived usefulness, ease of use, and various human, technological, and organizational factors influence the acceptance of HIS. The Ministry of Health should address challenges like data security and provide training to improve user experience and acceptance.
Implications: Understanding these factors is crucial for improving HIS acceptance and the quality of healthcare services in Palestine.
