ABSTRACT:

This study aimed to examine the level of nutritional knowledge among Jordanian boxers in clubs and centers, identify their primary sources of nutritional information, and explore differences in nutritional knowledge according to years of training and source of information. A descriptive survey design was employed on a random sample of 40 boxers. Data were collected using a 20-item nutritional knowledge questionnaire. Statistical analyses were conducted using SPSS (version 29) and included frequencies, percentages, Cronbach’s alpha, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) at a 95% confidence level (p < 0.05). The results indicated that the boxers’ overall nutritional knowledge was low, with an average score of 45%. Social media was the primary source of nutritional information for 42.5% of participants, followed by coaches (30%) and nutritionists (27.5%). Significant differences in nutritional knowledge were observed based on years of training, favoring boxers with nine or more years of experience, whereas no significant differences were found according to the source of nutritional knowledge. Based on these findings, the study recommends enhancing nutritional awareness among boxers through targeted lectures, workshops, and specialized training courses.
