Fiqh Islami’s View on Aborting Defect Foetus
This paper “Fiqh Islami’s View on Aborting Defect Foetus” deals with Islam’s view on aborting the sick or defect foetus. The principal is that abortion is forbidden and is impermissible from the first moment of fertilization. Yet, it is permissible for necessity as, for example, when the foetus is sick or is seriously defect provided that aborting foetus occurs before the soul is blown into it, i.e., in the first four months of its age. After blowing the soul, aboution is absolutely impermissible except in one circumstance if the foetus threatens the life of the mother. Then, the branch is sacrificed to keep the origin.
