The consturction project in developing countries have been negatively influenced by communication gaps and lack of interoperability in design and construction processes. BIMs appeared as an enablers of interoperability, but today the implementation of Building Information Modelling as an information managment paradigm that spans over the projects entire life-cycle provide unique oppourtunities for facilitation of the processes in all phases of the construction life cycle. In order to explore the full potential of the implementation of the Building Information Modelling as an information managment strategy, opportunity analyses covering different phases of the life-cycle is required. This paper focuses on providing an oppotunity analysis to explore the opportunities provided by the BIM to facilitate collaboration and coordination in the design phase of construction projects.
