In this article, we present an approach which allows users to semantically represent their informational needs in a dynamic way. These representations are used to add user-interface input elements which have implicit semantics according to the CIDOC CRM ontology and which are used to insert cultural heritage data. To facilitate the indirect creation of ontological paths by the ordinary user, we exploit the techniques of mind mapping and we associate the terminological level, in the context of our application, with the conceptual one. Our objective is to find an effective solution to the situation where there is a lack of data in a particular cultural heritage context. The semantic technologies offer several advantages, but they also require several adaptations in order to allow the ordinary user participate effectively in the ontological representation.
