The study aims to introduce the concept of “diyya” blood money indemnity which is defined as the financial compensation paid to the victim or the victim’s family in the cases of murder, bodily harm or property damage. The study also aims at identifying the principles and various amounts of blood money or indemnity based on the type of the murder. Furthermore, the study intends to identify the amount of blood money for damaging human faculties or body parts (e.g., mind, hearing, seeing, and smelling). The study findings indicate that the amount of “diyya” depends on the crime itself and that total damage to any part entails paying a complete “diyya”.
