Analysis of technology textbook for the tenth grade in Palestine according to the Standards for Technological Literacy

This study aimed to analyze the Technology textbook for tenth grade
according to Standards for Technological Literacy (STL) issued by
International Technology Education Association (ITEA). In order to
achieve the aim of the study, the researchers used the analytical descriptive
methodology, specifically the method of content analysis. The researchers
used content analysis tool and translated the list of Standards for
Technological Literacy (STL) issued by International Technology
Education Association into Arabic. The list includes five domains as
follow: The Nature of Technology, Technology and Society, Design,
Abilities of the Technological World, and The Designed World
(Technological Systems). The results of the study showed that the overall
percentage of achieving the standards in the entire domains was (73%)
which is high. Also, the results showed that the percentage of achievement
of standards for each domain were respectively: The Nature of
Technology, Technology and Society, Design, Abilities of the
Technological world, all of which are high, and next the Designed World
that has a moderate compliance. In light of the findings of the study, the
researchers suggested a set of recommendations, the most important was
the compliance with standards within the study units should be greater, and
adopting the Standards of Technological Literacy in the analysis,
evaluation, and development of technology curricula in Palestine should
be higher.
