Coaches Contribution in Reinforcing Sportsmanship among Players in Palestine

The study aimed to identify the contribution of coaches in the promotion of sportsmanship among Palestinian players, as well as to determine the differences in the degree of contribution according to the game, to achieve this the study was conducted on a sample of (165) players and representing (30%) from the population, of professional and Premier League players of soccer, volleyball, basketball and handball in Palestine.

To measure the contribution of coaches in the promotion of the sportsmanship Robert et Robert, etal, (1997) scale was developed, to suit the subject of the study, which includes the scale on (25) items distributed on five domains: (respect for social traditions, respect for laws and regulations, commitment to full participation sports, the area of ​​concern for the respect for the opponent, and the positive approach towards sport).

The results of the study indicated that the  degree of the contribution of coaches in the promotion of sportsmanship among Palestinian  players was high, where the percentage of response was (71.40%), and the degree were high on all domains  except full commitment to participate sports , the highest level was of positive approach towards the sport domain  (75.15%), and lowest degree was for full commitment to sports participation domain (69.60%).Also, the results indicated a significant differences at (a = 0.05) in the degree  of contribution due to the game variable in favor of basketball.

Based on the findings of the study, the researcher recommended the coaches to confirm on sportsmanship among players through integration of technical,physical,tactical, and psychological preparation of players.
