Sources of Occupational Stress for the Physical Education Teachers in Palestine

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to determine the sources of occupational stress for the physical education teachers in Palestine .Furthermore determine the effect of qualification and experience variables on that. The sample of the study included (443) male and female physical education teachers in Palestine schools, The subjects were tested on the occupational stress scale 34-items MONARCCO scale ,measure five domains: administration support (8 items),work with students (8 items), salary (4 items), relationship between teachers (8 items) and facilities (6 items).

The results indicated that the rank of occupational stress of physical education teachers in Palestine were as follows: salary (78%),facilities (71%), work with students (64%), relationship between teachers (46.33%) and administration support (40.33%).Furthermore, the results indicated that there is no significant differences were found due to qualification and experience variables. The researchers recommended increasing attention to teachers' salaries and building physical education facilities and reducing the number of students in classes. Furthermore, training courses and programs should be constructed for developing teachers.
