This study aims at investigating the impact of using social networks on the achievement of the male and female students in the course of “Principles of Programming” at the faculty of Engineering and IT at An-Najah National University in Nablus and their tendencies towards using them in learning. The sample of the study comprises (45) students dividing them into two groups, namely: controlling and experimental. Furthermore, the latter consists of (19) students while the former consists of (26) students. Also, an attitude scale questionnaire is distributed and a pre- achievement test is conducted electronically. In addition, social networks are implemented on the experimental group and the traditional way is implemented on the controlling group. After implementing the methods of social networks on the experimental group, the researcher conducted a post- achievement exam and followed attitude scales electronically on both groups: the experimental and controlling.  In order to answer the questions of the study, the averages and standard deviations are calculated for the grades of both groups and then the researcher has used the StatisticalPackage for the Social Sciences (hereinafter referred to as ‘SPSS’) to reach to the conclusions of the study. The researcher concludes that there are statistical differences between the averages of the achievement of the experimental group students and the averages of the grades of the students in the controlling group in the test due to the method of teaching. Also, there aren’t statistical differences between the achievement of female and male students due to the method of teaching. Thus, there are statistical differences between the averages of the attitudes of the both groups due to the method of teaching. Furthermore, the results show the existence of statistical differences between the averages of the attitudes of male and female students due to the method of teaching. Finally, the results show that there aren’t statistical differences between the average of the achievement of the experimental group’s students and their attitudes towards teaching methods.

In light of the previously mentioned results, the researcher recommends to employ social networks in the educational process urgently for their role in coping with the developments of the age. These developments increase students’ motivation towards learning, ease their teaching process and give students the opportunity to explore new sources of learning. Finally, these students are the generation of the future, if they are highly equipped with hi-tech skills; they reach the highest levels in the society.
