Abstract:

The study aimed to identify the level of offensive and defensive tactics among under-16 football players in Palestine. To achieve this aim, the study was conducted on a sample of (55) youth players whose ages ranged between (14–16) years. This sample represented (23%) of the total population of youth players in professional football clubs in Palestine. The descriptive method, in its correlational form, was used due to its suitability for the nature and objectives of the study.

After the participants responded to the offensive and defensive tactics scale, which consisted of (10) offensive situations and (10) defensive situations, the data were statistically analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS).

The results of the current study showed that the overall level of offensive tactics among under-16 football players in Palestine was high, with a mean score of (2.33) and a relative weight of (77.66%). In addition, the overall level of defensive tactics among under-16 football players in Palestine was also high, with a mean score of (2.15) and a relative weight of (71.66%).

Based on these results, the researchers recommended several recommendations, the most important of which are: the necessity of generalizing the results of the current study to youth coaches in professional football clubs in order to benefit from them in preparing training programs and in the process of selecting youth players; conducting similar studies on youth players in clubs competing in lower divisions and comparing their results with those of the current study; and conducting studies on some psychological variables and their contribution to offensive and defensive tactics among under-16 football players.

Keywords: Offensive tactics – Defensive tactics – Football players.
