Saad Al-Lahham was born in Jerusalem-Palestine on 15th of January 1980. He finished his high school in 1998 at Bethlehem Secondary School, Palestine and in 2003 he obtained his bachelor degree in Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology at Jordan University of Science and Technology, Jordan with an honor degree. Later on, he worked for one year as a teacher and research assistant at Arab American University and at Al-Quds University, respectively, Palestine. One research article was published from his work in the above mentioned universities. In 2004, he and another 5 students were chosen from the whole world by the Royal University of Groningen for a scholarship to conduct their Master degree in “Medical and Pharmaceutical Drug Innovation”. Two research articles were published from his Master thesis. After one year of his master degree, the committee found he was qualified for a PhD project instead of continuing the second year of master degree. Therefore, he was offered a PhD position at medical Biomics Center (genomics and proteomics) at the University Medical Centre Groningen-the Netherlands. Six research articles were published from his PhD thesis. Before the finishing of his PhD he was offered a Postdoctoral position to develop a bioartificial kidney at the University Medical Centre Groningen-the Netherlands. As he was offered a skilled immigrant Visa in the Netherlands, Saad was offered the Dutch Passport. Later on, saad decided to go back to his home land to start a new job at the Faculty of Medicine, An-Najah National University, Palestine. He is currently an associate professor, who teaches courses in his field, such as Medical Genetics, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. Due to his passion in science and research, Sa’ad established a central research laboratory and he was the head of this laboratory from 2014-2018, where he supervises his students and managed to publish 17 articles. In 2018, he did a postdoctoral fellowship at San Raffaelle Hospital, Milan, Italy. The title of the fellowship was molecular genomics and cytogenetics diagnosis of clinical oncology and rare genetic diseases. In 2019, he established and developed a diagnostic genetic laboratory at An-Najah National University Hospital and he was the head of this laboratory from 2019-2021. The mission of this laboratory is to diagnose cancer and rare genetic diseases in Palestine using modern and advanced genetic technologies. Since 2022, he works as a molecular genetics consultant at Istishari Arab Hospital. In 2017, he obtained a German grant (42200 Euros) to study the role of Genetic Variants that causes obesity and Metabolic Syndrome among School-Aged Palestinian Children. The current i10-index of Sa’ad is 16 and the number of citations on his publications is above 1883 citations. The current research interest of Saad is cancer genomics and cytogenetics in Palestine.
